Service Description

This service is ideal if you have prior experience of throwing and wish to have time to practice and develop your skills at your own pace. Please read below terms before making a booking to ensure it suits you and your expectations. WHEEL RENTAL TERMS WHO? Previous experience necessary - no tuition is included WHEN? Half or full day | Fri - Sun | 9.30am - 5.30pm WHERE? Studio #7, The Base, Communications Road, Greenham Business Park, Thatcham, RG19 6HN Please note that the wheels are solely for use at The Base, and not for hire to your home HOW? Book and pay for session online. Please bring £100 cash deposit - Fully refundable at the end of session dependant on full and thorough cleaning and no damage being made to equipment or studio. Locking and unlocking will be done by MB FEES INCLUDE Use of: 1 electric Shimpo Pottery wheel (either RK3E, or Whisper T) Cleaning Bucket Sponge for cleaning Mop and bucket (All to be left in situ at end of session) NOT INCLUDED Clay Tools Firing Storage YOU WILL NEED Clay Tools Slop bucket (No clay to be poured down drains) Water container (while throwing) Storage box for your pots (eg. Clip-lock “really useful box”) Boards (to place your work on) Newspaper Apron Towel WHAT TO EXPECT A clean and well-maintained, good-quality, powerful electric pottery wheel ready for your use. Before using the wheel rental service for the first time an induction to the studio and facilities will be completed. Once you have finished throwing pack your pots into the containers you’ve brought and clean up behind you. Dry clay dust is damaging for your lungs and causes silicosis. It is vital that cleaning is completed effectively with damp methods. Use damp but not saturated sponges to ensure that there is no water damage to the studio. To ensure none of your deposit is lost: please ensure you clean all surfaces of the wheel and surrounding surfaces using the sponge and water-bucket provided: wheel-head splash trays wheel surfaces legs foot pedal Don’t forget: Chair surrounding boards and surfaces. Switch off all electrics at the wall At the end please mop the entire floor. (Allow at least 30-45 minutes before the end of your session time to avoid disrupting the next potter or losing part of your deposit)
